Pup Architects' project Surrey Docks Farm was awarded the NLA Mayor's Prize 2020 for Circular Design.

The prize "celebrates the project that best demonstrates an innovative re-use of existing buildings and or re-use of construction materials, adopting circular economy principles while securing high quality design. For the New London Awards 10-year anniversary, the Mayor’s Prize looks into the future, awarding the project that best supports the Mayor’s aims of making London a zero carbon, zero waste and zero pollution city."

Deputy Mayor for Planning, Regeneration and Skills Jules Pipe said:

“Surrey Docks Farm is a worthy winner. It is exemplary in its approach to circular economy principles. It takes a holistic approach in addressing the climate emergency from construction to use to end of life, as well as its role in addressing social inequalities. The scheme is beautifully designed and crafted using local and ethical supply chains, from the steel stair from Croydon to the piling rig from East London or the bricks from Herrongate. It is hugely encouraging to see that even small practices, working on modest schemes, can tackle the huge challenge of the climate emergency.”
